OBITUARY: Ruth V. Mostad
Funeral services for Ruth V. Mostad will be at 11 AM on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at Minneola Lutheran Church, 13628 County 50 Blvd., Goodhue, MN with Pastor Sarah Nietz officiating. Burial will follow in the Minneola Lutheran Church Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to Riverview Manor in Wanamingo, MN.
Ruth, age 89, of Zumbrota, and formerly Wanamingo, died on Thursday, January 24, 2008 at the Zumbrota Nursing Home. She was born on March 27, 1918 near Cooperstown, ND to Martin and Anna (Kindseth) Frigaard. She attended school and graduated from Cooperstown High School then went on to earn her teaching certificate from Mayville State College, Mayville, ND. Ruth taught elementary school in Griggs County, ND for three years. On June 15, 1941 she married Arthur E. Mostad in Cooperstown. Following their marriage, the couple farmed near Osakis, MN. In 1948 they moved to a farm near Wanamingo, where they farmed until 1965 before moving into Wanamingo. She worked as a bookkeeper for Dr. Walter in Wanamingo for many years. Art died in November 1999 and Ruth moved into the Zumbrota Nursing Home in May of 2000. She was a member of Minneola Lutheran Church and was active in various church organizations. She and Art were among the organizers of the Association of Retarded Citizens in 1950.
Ruth is survived by one son, Edwin Mostad, of Wanamingo, MN; kone sister-in-law, Bernette Frigaard, of Hood River, OR; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur; one son, James; two brothers and one sister.
Visitation will be one hour before services at the church on Wednesday. Mahn Family Funeral Home Larson Chapel in Zumbrota is handling the arrangements.
