Ruth Kohrs

Ruth Mary Kohrs, age 81 of Lake City, went to be with her Savior, while surrounded by her family on Tuesday, July 12, at her residence. She was born December 5, 1929 in Red Wing to William and Emma (Koehn) Gerken. She grew up in Lake City and graduated from Lake City High School in 1947. After High School she worked at the Lake City Hospital as a nurse's aid. She married Emery Kohrs on June 6, 1952 at Bethany Lutheran Church. They lived on a farm in Mount Pleasant Township where she helped on the farm and raised six children. In 1993 they retired from farming and moved to Lake City. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran in Belvidere and part of the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed spending time with her birthday club and most of all spending time with her family whether it be going out to eat, celebrating one of many events, or sharing stories.
She is survived by her husband, Emery of Lake City; children, William (Jill) Kohrs of Lake City, Kathy (Larry) Binner of Wabasha, Deb (Dan) Foster of Lake City, Keith (Deb) Kohrs of Lake City, Pat (Kenny) Sexton of Millville, Mark Kohrs of Lake City; grandchildren Scott (Dixi) Kohrs, Paula (Bobby) Priefert, Sherry Foster, Melissa (Jeremy) McDonnell, Jackie (Geoff) Passe, Jessica (Matt) Kehren, Jeremy (Amanda) Kohrs, Jennifer (Bill) Apley, Nicole Eversman, Ashley Sexton; seventeen great-grandchildren, and another boy on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandchild.
Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 15 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Belvidere with Reverend Scott Fiege officiating. Burial will take place at St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery in Belvidere. Pallbearers will be Scott Kohrs, Jeremy McDonnell, Jeremy Kohrs, Bobby Priefert, Geoff Passe, Matt Kehren, and Bill Apley. Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday, July 14 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Memorials are preferred to St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Belvidere.
