Ruth Ann Gilliland

Ruth Ann Gilliland, 86, of Red Wing died on Monday, June 4, 2018 at the Bluffs in Lake City. She was born on August 14, 1931 in Hazelton, ND to Walter and Frieda (Johnson) Lemmerhirt. She grew up near Saperer, MN and her family later moved to Bay City, WI. She married Milo Gilliland on December 16, 1949, in River Falls, Wisconsin, and they made their home in Red Wing. She worked at Red Wing Shoe Company for 38 years, retiring in 1993. She was a member of United Lutheran Church.
She enjoyed staying active and had been part of a card club and participated in sports of all kinds; she especially enjoyed downhill skiing and bowling in her younger years. She also enjoyed watching sports--particularly her grandchildren's games. Traveling to Las Vegas and taking family trips to Mexico were always a highlight for her and Milo.
She is survived by two daughters, Catherine (Don) Bee of Stockholm, WI and Mitzi (Jeff) Bjork of Goodhue; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren and one sister, Alice Steffenhagen of Red Wing, MN.
She was preceded in death by her husband Milo in 2013; parents and sons-in-Law Lyle Warrington and Jerry Wallin.
Memorial service will be 11:00 am Friday, June 8, 2018 at United Lutheran Church in Red Wing with Reverend Karl Rydholm officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements with the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, Red Wing.
