Ruth Ann Erickson, 80, of Red Wing, died on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. She was born in Volga, South Dakota on April 15, 1936 to Jewell and Christine (Pederson) Stime. Her family later moved to Randolph where they farmed. She graduated from Randolph High School and continued on to St. Olaf College where she obtained her nursing degree. She first met her husband at an event at church while in high school, but they would not connect again until later, after they had gotten started in their careers. In December of 1963 she married David Erickson. In 1964 they moved to Red Wing to raise their family. She first started working at St. John's Hospital in Red Wing as a nurse. After that, she worked for the Wabasha and Goodhue County Public Health Service and later she become the Director of Nursing at St. John's Hospital. She ended her career in nursing as the school nurse in the Cannon Falls School District. She was both a homemaker and a breadwinner. She was also a very faithful member of First Lutheran Church. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, stained glass, "laketime" with her family, and spending time at their cabin. She will be remembered for her faith, strong morals, dignity and her wonderful sense of humor.
Ruth is survived by her husband, David of Red Wing; children, Randi (Dave) Pidde of Williston, ND, David of Colorado Springs, CO, Kari (Jim) Vick of Lutsen, and Marsha (Miles) Jagusch of Rochester; daughter-in-law, Stacy Erickson; grandchildren, Kjersti, Solveig, Sydney, Bekken, Elisabeth, Taylor, Travis, and Caleb; great-grandchildren, Aria and Brand; brothers, Daniel Stime of Modesto, CA, Lowell Stime of Issaquah, WA; sister, Amber Stime of San Francisco, CA; brother-in-law, Gary Blumanthal of Oregon City, OR
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Philip Stime; sister, Naomi Blumanthal; and grandson, Brand Jagusch.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 30, 2016 at First Lutheran Church. A visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Interment Oakwood Cemetery.
