Ruth Jane Dicke, 90 of Red Wing, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2011 at Fairview Medical Center in Red Wing. She was born on September 30, 1920 to John and Anna (Thomforde) Dahling. She graduated in 1938 from Red Wing High School and then attended teachers training in Faribault. She taught at various country schools for 10 years and lastly at Immanuel Lutheran School in Hay Creek. She married Donald Dicke August 24, 1949 in Hay Creek. They lived in Belvidere Township where they farmed for many years. Ruth worked at Riviera Kitchens and Red Wing Optical and then for 30 years at F&D Supply. She then worked part-time at Corner Drug for a few years. Donald died on December 2, 2004. She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, knitting and was an avid reader.
She is survived by her three children, Thomas (Betty Ann) Dicke of Goodhue, Morris (Terri) Dicke of Red Wing and Sheila (John) Krie of Red Wing; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband and one sister, Rosamond Koester.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday Jan. 10, 2011 at Concordia Lutheran Church with Reverend Tyge Zucker officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-6 p.m. Sunday, Jan 9, 2011 at Mahn Family Funeral Home Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and for one hour prior to the service. Memorials are preferred to Concordia Lutheran Church Building Fund or donor's choice.
