OBITUARY: Russell L. "Russ" Weis
Memorial visitation for Russell L. "Russ" Weis will be from 4-7pm on Monday, September 29, 2008 at Mahn Family Funeral Home � Larson Chapel in Zumbrota. Private family graveside service will be held at Zumbrota Cemetery.
Russell Loyal Weis, age 79, of Zumbrota, died on Thursday, September 25, 2008 at his residence. He was born on February 24, 1929 in Roscoe Township, Goodhue County to John and Sylvia (Bakke) Weis. Russ attended rural country school in Goodhue County and, following school, he started working for the Farmers Co-op in Zumbrota, which later changed its name to Mid-America Dairy, Inc. He was a boiler engineer. On June 12, 1949, Russ married Joanne Svee in West Concord. She died on October 7, 1989. Russ retired after working over 40 years in the dairy industry. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and spending time with his family, friends, and his dog, Murphy.
Surviving Russ are his two sons: Wayne (Cheri) Weis and Scott Weis and his two daughters: Brenda Weis and LeAnn (Paul) Edwards, all of Zumbrota; seven grandchildren: Jason Weis, Mallory Edwards, Jack Edwards, Sam Edwards, Michael Knies, Melissa (Paul) Langowski and Emily Knies; one great-grandson, Niki Langowski; one sister, Phyllis (Jim) Buehler, of West Concord, MN. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne, his parents, John and Sylvia, and two sisters, Marilyn and Johnell.
