Russell F. Swagger
Russell Fred Swagger, 91, of Lake City passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at the Lake City Hospital Mayo Health System. He was born June 13, 1917 in Clayton, WI to Edward & Estella (Payson) Swagger.
Russell grew up in the Clayton area working for farmers in the area. He married Loretta Cross in 1952 and they moved to Lake City were he worked as a mechanic for Vick Weich for several years until working at Di-Acro, and then Valley Craft until retiring. He also managed the Maplewood Trailer Park for a number of years. He was an avid fisherman.
He is survived by two sons, Brian Swagger of Lake City and Gary (Karen) Swagger of California; daughter, Deborah Gipson of California; two brothers, Kenneth Swagger of Lake City and Darold (Carol) Swagger of Florida; sister, Beulah Matheney of Wisconsin. Preceded in death by son, Edward Swagger; three brothers, Lymond, Raymond, and Donald; infant sister Dolores.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, December 11th at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City with Reverend Garry Swagger officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior the service at the funeral home.
