Russell E. Sherman, of Wanamingo, died Friday morning November 4th, 2016 at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Rochester- St. Mary's Campus. A family graveside service was held at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Wanamingo with Pastor Christopher Culuris officiating.
Russell Eugene Sherman was born January 28, 1928 to Lowell and Lillian (Remark) Sherman.
Russell grew up in Mankato and graduated from Mankato High School. On August 31, 1948 he married Doreen Peterson in Esterville, IA. He worked as a dispatcher/depot agent for the railroad in several locations, including Mankato, Minneapolis, Hope, Rose Creek, and Lime Springs, Iowa before moving to Wanamingo in 1968.
Russell and Doreen enjoyed traveling in their motor home and spent many winters in the South.
Russell was also fond of golfing, hunting, and repairing older vehicles.
Russell is survived by three sons; Russell (Martha) Sherman, Jr. of Apple Valley, Thomas (Cindy) Sherman of Cannon Falls and Rick (Connie) Sherman of Rochester; daughter, Jean (Jerry) Blakstad of Inver Grove Heights; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
