Ruby "Roxy" Olsen

Ruby "Roxy" Olsen, formally Ruby Marcella Trogstad, died Sunday, November 18, 2007 in her home after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Pine Island and with the Reverends John Torris Lohre, Kip Groettum and Daniel Ashpole officiating. Interment will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester. Casketbearers will be Ross Trogstad, Randy Trogstad, Allan Trogstad, Dennis Thorson, Roy Larson and Gordie Grout. The honorary casketbearer will be Robert Becker. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
She was born July 19, 1929 in Pilot Mound, Minnesota, the daughter of Bernt "Bennie" and Millie (Soland) Trogstad. She attended grade school in district 56 of Fillmore County and graduated from Chatfield High School in 1947. After graduating, Roxy worked at Dison's Cleaners and the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. She married Eldon "Al" Olsen June 5, 1948 at Pilot Mount Lutheran Church and farmed with her husband Al until 1979. She lived in Pine Island for 53 years, belonging to the Charles Cowden Legion Auxiliary post # 184 and the Elizabeth Circle. Roxy taught Sunday School for 14 years was a 4-H leader, cub scout leader and baby sat for many families. She loved dancing, playing cards and spending time with her friends and family.
Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Norman and Lester; four sisters, Mrs. Mildred (Clarence) Jacobson, Mrs. Ethel (Art) Becker, Mrs. Olive (Leon) Thorson and Mrs. Betty (Tilford) Rain.
Surviving her are four brothers, Arlis Trogstad of Dover, Minnesota, Orval Trogstad of Fountain, Minnesota, Elmer Trogstad of Chatfield and Ed Trogstad of Rochester; and her daughter, Sue of Bemidji, son, Rick (Susy) of Rochester; three grandchildren, Dain (Angela) Olsen, Ian Olsen, and Kelsy Olsen all of Rochester, and one great grandchild, Agatha Olsen of Rochester.
Arrangements are with Mahn Family Funeral Homes-Mahler Chapel, Pine Island.
