Ruby D. Boyum, 83, of rural Pine Island, died Thursday, March 09, 2006 at her home surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Sunday, March 12, 2006 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Pine Island with Rev. John Torris Lohre and Rev. Kip Groettum officiating. Interment will be in Pine Island Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Saturday, March 11, 2006 at Mahn Family Funeral Home-Mahler Chapel in Pine Island and one hour prior to the service at the church on Sunday.Ruby Delores Gunneson was born in Rock Dell Township in Olmsted County on July 15, 1922 to Alfred and Bertina (Senjem) Gunneson. Ruby was raised on the family farm and attended country schools. She married Walter Boyum on March 10, 1941 at East St. Olaf Lutheran Church, where Ruby was baptized and confirmed. They lived and worked on farms in the Kasson area. In 1947, Ruby and Walter purchased a farm in rural Pine Island, (New Haven Township). She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and its Church Circle. Ruby enjoyed cooking, gardening, music, dancing and spending time with her family. Ruby and Walter would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Friday, March 10, 2006. She is survived by her loving husband, Walter; five daughters, Connie (David) Klann of Douglas, Lola (Larry) Erdman of Mantorville, Patricia (Craig) Hanson of Rochester, Susan (Wally) Klopp of Pine Island and Renee Boyum of Byron; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and sister, Bernice Gulbranson of Rochester. Ruby is preceded in death by her daughter, Rachel Diercks, son, James Boyum, four brothers and three sisters. Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.
