Roy Ernest Stumpf, 85, of Red Wing, died Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at the Seminary Home. He was born on September 5, 1928 in Hay Creek to Ernest and Alma (Holst) Stumpf. He attended schools in Hay Creek and on June 16, 1948 he married Phyllis Duden. They farmed for many years in Hay Creek retiring in 1998. In 1989 they moved to Red Wing. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. His family recalls his passion for farming, from the land to caring for the animals and just having the opportunity to be outside and enjoying nature's surroundings.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; four children; Carl (Johnnie) Stumpf of Red Wing, Carol (Frank) Peterson of Bay City, Linda (Todd) Kuyath of Red Wing and Glen (Audrey) Stumpf of Red Wing; 12 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; one sister, Verneil Bodelson of Red Wing; one brother, Earl (Lois) Stumpf of Red Wing and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Gerald; two sisters, Sylvia Madsen and Syvilla Madsen and one grandson Jens Stumpf.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2014 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Rev. Kristen Schlauderaff officiating. Burial was at the Oakwood Cemetery.
