Roy Peterson

Roy Nicoli Peterson, age 69 of Lake City, died Monday, November 7, 2011 at Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.

Roy was born August 13, 1942 in Diamond Bluff, Wisconsin, the son of Assmus "Nick" and Marie (Hynding) Peterson. He attended school in Aleo, Wisconsin. He worked for the Donald Cobian farm, Cal's Pure Oil in Ellsworth, Riviera Kitchens, and Boss Oil in Lake City. He married Jeanette Schultz on March 14, 1964 and they lived in Frontenac. The couple later divorced. He married Cheryl Byer in 1981 and they later divorced. He worked for Metro Gravel in Hastings and as a truck driver for Knudsen Trucking, retiring in May 2010. Roy enjoyed having coffee at the Whistle Stop, camping, fishing, going to tractor and antique equipment shows.

Roy is survived by two daughters, Kathy Peterson of Red Wing and Marlene Niebeling of Wabasha; two grandchildren, Sarah and Whitney Niebeling; longtime companion, Sherrill Wolfe of Lake City; sisters, Mildred Betcher of Red Wing and Betty (Harold) Wipperling of Red Wing; former mother-in-law, Laurinda Schultz and his extended family through Sherrill.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and five brothers.

Funeral Service will be 1 p.m., Thursday, November 10, 2011 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Reverend Eugene Hasselquist officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home and also for one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
