Roslyn Harriet (Fredrickson) "Rosy" Thoreson

Roslyn Harriet “Rosy” Thoreson, 100, of Zumbrota, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at the Zumbrota Health Services Care Center. She was born on October 15, 1923, at the St. Lucas Hospital in Faribault to Joseph and Selma (Grothe) Fredrickson. She grew up on a farm near Wanamingo. She attended country school for eight years and high school in Wanamingo, graduating in 1942. She attended one year of teacher’s training, received her teaching certificate, and taught for one year. In 1944, Rosy married Hiram Thoreson at the Minneola Lutheran Church. They moved to a farm near Hader and lived there for 30 years. They then lived in Wanamingo for 18 years. Hiram died in 1985 and Rosy moved to a townhouse in Wanamingo and later to Zumbrota Health Services. Hiram was a farmer, electrician, and State Board Electrical Inspector. He was a loving father and husband. Blessed be his memory. Rosy was briefly married to her special friend, Ron Banitt. Rosy was a farm housewife and mother. She was active in the Wanamingo Lutheran Church on the worship committee, church circle, and WELCA. She also taught Sunday School and was a Bible School teacher. She was a member of the Zumbrota Hospital auxiliary and volunteered as a “Pink Lady” there.

She is survived by her five children, Kathy (Neil) Alme, Shianne Bruegger, Susan (Ron) Flotterud, Beth Haas, and Dan Thoreson; ten grandchildren, Anngel Delaney, Jennifer Achten, Carrie Alme, Nicole Flotterud, Derik Flotterud, Christina Flotterud, Aaron Haas, Brooke Peragine, Vincent Thoreson, and Kari Thoreson; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Joyce Fredrickson, Roger Fredrickson, Charlene Anfinson, Diane Braaten, and Marcia Goplen.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Hiram; siblings, James Fredrickson, Barbara Davidson, and Gary Fredrickson; and sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, December 18, 2023, at Wanamingo Lutheran Church. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Wanamingo Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the Wanamingo Lutheran Church, Wanamingo Lutheran Cemetery, or the American Cancer Society.
