Rosemary Bernard, 82, of Red Wing, passed away Saturday, January 16, 2021, surrounded by her family, at her daughter’s home in Prescott, Wisconsin. She was born October 14, 1938, in Lake City, to Richard and Clara (Schmidt) Shea and graduated from Lake City High School, class of 1956. She married Gerald Bernard and they made their home in Red Wing and later divorced. She worked at the St. John’s Hospital as a ward secretary until 1981. She then began her 30-plus year career with Goodhue County, working in the administration and computer departments. Rosemary loved the Red Wing Senior Center, especially their fitness classes. She also played in numerous bridge clubs and she loved to read, but her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she cherished her time with them.
She is survived by her daughter, Kim (Steve) Watts of Prescott; son, Eric Bernard of St. Louis Park; grandchildren, Ben and McKenna Osborn and Max, Sydney and Mackenzie Watts; a brother, Richard (Phyllis) Shea of Colorado Springs, CO and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A visitation for Rosemary will be held from 3-4 p.m. on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. The family would like to express a thank-you to the RW Mayo Hospice for their special care and guidance. Memorials are preferred to Mayo Clinic RW Hospice.
