Rosemarie A. Jones

ROCHESTER ? A memorial service for Rosemarie A. Jones will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Rochester Seventh Day Adventist Church with the Rev. Stan Wilkinson officiating. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date. Mrs. Jones, 74, of Rochester, a retired Nurse, died Sunday (Nov. 5, 2006) at St. Mary?s Hospital from complications of an aneurysm. Rosemarie Ann D?Avanzo was born Jan. 2, 1932 in Brooklyn, New York and was raised there. She graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in Cambria Heights, New York in 1950. She worked for New York Life Insurance Company before her marriage to Robert R. Jones on Feb. 21, 1954 in Cambria Heights. The couple moved to Rochester in 1954 where she worked for the Mayo Clinic. She later took Nurses Training at Rochester Area Vocational and Technical School. She worked as a Nurse at Rochester Methodist Hospital for 15 years, and then for an Oral Surgeon, Dr. Amundson, for 10 years. She was a member of Rochester Seventh Day Adventist Church where she was an Elder, she was a volunteer at Seasons Hospice, and was active in Prison Ministries at the Rochester Federal Medical Center. She enjoyed fishing and gardening. Survivors include her husband, a daughter Maria (Randy) Strain of Minneapolis; three sons, Michael of North Palm Beach, Fla., Mark (Vickie) of Minneapolis, and James (Michelle) of Chetek, Wis.; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two sisters Annette Nicholson of Sacramento, CA, and Lillian Bishop of Long Island, NY; and one brother Vincent D?Avanzo of Santa Rosa, CA. A son and a grandson preceded her in death. Friends may call one hour before the service Thursday at the Church. Memorials are suggested to Seasons Hospice or the Rochester Seventh Day Adventist Church. Mahn Family Funeral Home ? Rochester Chapel is in charge of Arrangements.
