Rosella A. Schober, age 89, of Mazeppa died peacefully on Sunday, June 15, 2008 at Zumbrota Care Center after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by her loving family and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Thursday, June 19, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mazeppa with Father Robert G. Meyer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, June 18, 2008 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and on Thursday one hour prior to the mass at the church.
Rosella Anna Delva was born on November 7, 1918 in Chester Township, Wabasha County, MN to John and Clara (nee Frank) Delva. She grew up on the family farm and attended the Musty Country School. She then assisted local families with housekeeping needs. On September 3, 1940 she married Raymond Henry Schober at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mazeppa. In 1941 they started a trucking business in Bellechester and in 1951 they bought the Delva family farm. Rosella and Ray farmed until retiring and moved into Mazeppa in 1973. Rosella also worked at Zumco and the Pine Cheese Mart. Rosella was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Mazeppa Senior Citizens and Mazeppa Homemakers. Rosella is survived by one son, Ralph (Juanita) Schober of Poplar Grove, IL, two daughters, Irene (Ken) Berg and June (Pat) Blee, both of Mazeppa, five grandchildren, Tamara (Tom) Berg-Beniak, Matt Schober, Theresa (Dale) Worley, Miranda and Christina Blee, five great grandchildren, Travis, Trevor and Tianna Beniak and Wyatt and Dakota Schober, one sister, Dorothy Arendt of Bellechester and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray on April 3, 2007 and her parents. Rosella loved life and every step of her journey. Rosella enjoyed many pastimes and some of her favorites included crocheting, embroidering, baking bread, bird watching, traveling, playing cards and bingo. She treasured time with family and friends. She was exceptionally proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her witt, sense of humor and her unforgettable smile.
