Rose Mary Diercks, age 67, of Goodhue, formerly of Red Wing, died Sunday at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. She was born November 9, 1938, in Red Wing, the daughter of Joseph and Helen (Schafer) Zignego. She was a 1956 graduate of Red Wing Central High School. She married Gerald Diercks on August 7, 1965, in Red Wing. They lived in Red Wing, and then farmed in Hay Creek Township from 1969 until moving to Goodhue in 2004. On October 31, 2001, she received a kidney transplant from her sister Carol. She worked for Goodhue County Extension Service and for Goodhue County?s ASCS office (USDA Farm Service) in Red Wing. She was a travel agent for Sharon?s Travel and Carlson?s Wagonlit. She worked as a cook for the Red Wing American Legion Club Room and was a former 4-H Leader. She was a member of St. Joseph?s Catholic Church where she had been a Christian education teacher. She was active in many organizations including Leo C. Peterson American Legion Auxiliary Unit 54 where she served as treasurer; Third District American Legion Auxiliary where she served as District President; Goodhue County Extension Club; and 500 and bridge card clubs. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include her husband, Gerald, of Goodhue; three children, Pamela Gorman of Red Wing, Dwight (Dian) Diercks of Saratoga, Calif., and Heidi (Scott) Krause of Hager City, Wis.; seven grandchildren; one brother, Robert (Rita) Zignego of Red Wing; two sisters, Betty (Clair) Anderson of Red Wing, and Carol (Leonard) Miller of Yuma, Ariz.; nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; one sister, Helen Margaret Zignego, and one grandson, Ryan Krause. Funeral mass will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph?s Catholic Church with Fathers Roger Hessian and Bruce Peterson officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Red Wing. Pallbearers will be Brad Kolberg, Paul Reding, Eric Anderson, Troy Miller, Bart Samuelson, Steve Olson, Jim Roper and Joe Zignego. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Annie, Jack, Sarah and Emma Gorman; and Cory, Sean and Kathryn Krause. Visitation will be from 4 ? 8 p.m. Wednesday with parish prayer service at 6:45 p.m. followed by Third District Auxiliary service at 7 p.m. at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel; and one hour prior to the time of services Thursday at the church.
