Rosalie E. O'Brien, age 91, of Lake City passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at Mayo Health System Lake City Care Center.
Rosalie Elizabeth Bechel was born November 11, 1922 to Mathias A. and Emma (Dettling) Bechel. She attended St. John's Catholic School in Plum City, Wisconsin. She married Lyle O'Brien on June 10, 1941 at St. John's Catholic Church in Plum City, WI. They farmed on the O'Brien family farm in Lake Township in Wabasha County until 1982 when they moved to Lake City. The couple raised three sons: Eldon, Lloyd and Edward. Rosalie and Lyle moved to Lake City in 1983. She was a member of St. Mary's of the Lake Catholic Church, St. Mary's Guild, the mission sewing and prayer shawl groups. She was also a member of the Know Your Neighbors birthday groups. She liked her garden and flowers but especially loved her family and friends.
Rosalie is survived by her son, Lloyd (Joni) O'Brien of Fairmont, MN, two daughters-in-law: Elaine O'Brien of Austin, MN and Mary O'Brien of Lake City, MN; 10 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren, 3 step-great-grandchildren, She is further survived by 3 brothers: Lawrence (Bernadene) Bechel, of Plum City, WI, Eugene (Elaine) Bechel of Durand, WI and Casper (Margaret) Bechel of Mondovi, WI and two sisters: Sister Rita Marie FSPA of LaCrosse, WI and Rita (Bill) Biesterveld of Rock Falls, WI and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lyle and her two sons: Edward and Eldon, four brothers and four sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, October 13, 2014 at 11:00 am at St. Mary's of The Lake Catholic Church in Lake City with Father Joseph Pete officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, October 12, 2014 from 2 to 4 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel Lake City. A Rosary service will be held on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Friends may also call one hour before the service at the church
