Ronald McArthur Stokes, age 63 of Red Wing died on Saturday, December 6, 2008 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.

Ronald was born on October 1, 1945 in River Falls, Wisconsin to Harry and Marcine (Glaus) Stokes. He attended rural country schools in Old Frontenac and worked at several farms in rural Frontenac and also in Wisconsin. Ron began working with the City of Red Wing in the 1970's. He married Joan Lien in 1970 and they later divorced. He married Marilyn Bubbers and they later divorced. In March of 1990 he was united in marriage to Doris Lohse. He retired early due to health conditions in 1998. Ron enjoyed operating his Ham radio and had belonged to the Amateur Radio Association. He also enjoyed rebuilding antique John Deere tractors and traveling on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

Ronald is survived by his wife Doris of Red Wing; sons Larry of Lake City and Ronald W. of Red Wing; step-children Deanna Peterson of Red Wing and Douglas Kyllo of Red Wing; grandchildren Daniel and Skyler Stokes; step-grandchildren Aaron and Kyera Peterson; siblings Darlene Lien of Kellogg, Bonnie Stokes of New Richmond, Wisconsin, Don Stokes and Deb Stokes both of Red Wing, Denise (Lyle Schuman) Peters of Lake City, and Jean (Bill) Holmes of Lake City.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, December 11, 2008, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel in Red Wing. Private family burial will be in Welcome, Minnesota on Friday.
