OBITUARY: Ronald Lund
Funeral service for Ronald Lund will be at 11AM on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wanamingo with Reverend Byron Meline officiating. Casketbearers will be Dean Cocker, Chris Smedsrud, Shane Farmer, Reid Teigen, Mitch Ryan, Alex Peterson and Jordan Ryan. Honorary casketbearers will be his remaining grandchildren: Dave Farmer, Brenda Donovan, Karin Smedsrud, Tricia Smedsrud, Johana Teigen, Ali Ryan and Whitney Ryan. Burial will follow at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Ronald Lund, age 82, of Wanamingo, died on Thursday, August 21, 2008, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. He was born Ronald Clifford Lund on June 17, 1926 to William and Dora (Davidson) Lund in Roscoe Twnshp, Goodhue Co., MN. He attended country school at Roscoe Center and graduated from Wanamingo High School. Ron joined the United States Navy and, following his honorable discharge, attended Augsburg College where he studied business. He worked in Mound, MN in heating and air conditioning. On August 27, 1950, Ron married Shirley Syverson in Wanamingo and, following their marriage, they lived in Mound, MN. They moved to Wanamingo in 1951 where he continued to work in the heating and air conditioning business. In 1958, they moved to Holmen, WI and returned to Wanamingo in 1961. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Holmen and Wanamingo Lions Clubs, the Zumbrota Post #183 of the American Legion and the Wanamingo Honors Squad. Ron enjoyed gardening, playing cards, traveling, sports and his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley, and daughters: Jeri (Kevin) Ryan, of Wanamingo, MN, Barbi (Marv) Farmer, of Northfield, MN, Wendy (Gary) Teigen, of Andover, MN, Teri Lund, of Zumbrota, MN; one son, Rahn (Ann) Lund, of Rochester, MN. thirteen grandchildren: Chris Smedsrud, Shane Farmer, Reid Teigen, Mitch Ryan, Alex Peterson, Jordan Ryan, Dave Farmer, Brenda Donovan, Karin Smedsrud, Tricia Smedsrud, Johana Teigen, Ali Ryan and Whitney Ryan: five great-grandchildren: Bryce Hinrichs, Cole Farmer, Taylor Smedsrud, Marisa Smedsrud and Abby Smedsrud. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Geraldine Lund and one brother, William Lund.
Visitation will be from 5-8PM on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at Mahn Family Funeral Home Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and one hour before services at the church on Wednesday.
