Ronald A. Gerken
Ronald Gerken, 88, of Lake City died Friday, (November 6, 2009) at the Lake City Nursing home Lake City, MN.
Ronald Ardelle Gerken was born August 29, 1921, in Hyde Park Township, Wabasha County. He attended the Hyde Park School in rural Zumbro Falls and then Rochester High School in Rochester, MN. He married Edith Shea at Lincoln Church in rural Lake City on October 3, 1947 and they were married 21 years. During these years, they lived and farmed between Hammond and Zumbro Falls. They later divorced. Ronald continued to be involved with farming until his retirement. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City.
He is survived by three daughters, Linda Alton of Red Wing, MN, Vicki Gerken of Winona, MN, Susan (Ronald) Carpenter of Faribault, MN; two sons Steven of Belle Plain, MN, Jeffrey (Carmen) of Wabasha, MN; four grandchildren; and one step-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Dorance.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, November 9th at the St. John's Lutheran Church, Lake City MN with Reverend Dennis Valleau officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Lake City.
