Ronald Gatz

Ronald William Gatz, age 58, of Red Wing, died Monday, August 18, 2008, at his home. He was born on April 12, 1950, in Hinsdale, Illinois, to Nicholas and Gladys (Thomas) Gatz. He was a 1968 graduate of Hinsdale High School and married Cathleen Cain on February 22, 1969, in Hinsdale. They moved to Red Wing in 1972. He worked for Thomas and Betts for thirty-five years. He volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America and was a hockey dad. He was an avid reader and Minnesota Vikings fan. His family remembers him as a person who enjoyed cooking, working around the home, driving his lawn mower and listening to AM radio.

Survivors include his wife Cathie; three children, Shane (Carol) Gatz of Eagan, Ron (Becky) Gatz of Hager City and Erin Gatz of Red Wing; two grandchildren Regan and Cameron Gatz, and a grandchild due in February; his mother Gladys Gatz of Silver Bay, Minnesota; two brothers, David (Cassie) Gatz of Cave Creek, Arizona, and Steve Gatz of Silver Bay. He was preceded in death by his father in 1992.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Rev. Lynne Rigg officiating. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society or Fairview Red Wing Hospice.
