Rolland Edward "Blackie" Nadeau, 95, of Red Wing, died Monday, August 28, 2017, at the Red Wing Health Center, where he has resided for the past six weeks. He was born on December 28, 1921, in Red Wing to Deo and Elida (Hutchson) Nadeau. He attended schools in Red Wing and then served in the US Army from 1942-1945, serving in the European Theatre and was part of the 888 Airborne Engineers. On January 21, 1947, he married Eunice Martenson. He worked 19 ½ years for Mann Construction and then 19 years for Ames Construction. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Leo C. Peterson American Legion Post #54 and the Burnson- Lillyblad VFW Post #1218. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and playing bingo.
Survivors include two sons, Bruce (Nancy) Nadeau and Randy (Christy) Nadeau all of Red Wing; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one great great grandson and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one son, Bradley; one great grandson, Rory Nadeau; two brothers, Neal and Byron and one sister, Marilyn Dahling.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Reverend Dana Jackson officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at the Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 5, at the funeral home and for one hour prior to the service.
