Roger Wayne Markham, 75, of Mazeppa died Monday, November 7, 2022 at Saint Marys Hospital surrounded by his family.
He was born on October 1, 1947 in Rochester to Gordon and Olive (Vanderbosch) Markham.
Roger was in 3rd grade when his family moved from Hammond, MN to Zumbrota where he graduated high school in 1965. He married Gwen Larson and later divorced. Roger met Sara in 1976 and were married on August 26, 1978 at St. John’s Lutheran in Mazeppa. He owned and operated Roger's Conoco from 1977 – 1988, worked at Greenway for 17 years and for his son at Berg’s Towing and Repair until retirement.
Roger loved fishing, NASCAR, cards, taking car rides, puzzles, going to the cabin at Breezy Point and spending time with the grandkids. Many people will remember him for his love of farming and how funny and witty he was.
He is survived by his wife, Sara Markham; daughter, Michelle “Mickey” (Billy) Peterson; sons, Matthew (Angie) Markham, Todd (Olivia) Markham; grandchildren, Emma Whipple, Allison Yanish, McKenzie Markham, Hailey Kalina, Zach, Dillion, Caleb, Destiny and Devan, Axel, Jedd and Zeke Markham, Wayne Swanson IV; brother, Gary (Sally) Markham;
He is preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Judy.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at the Mazeppa Community Center.
