Roger LeRoy Hayes, 64, of Red Wing, died Sunday, November 4, 2018 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Red Wing. He was born August 12, 1954 in Red Wing to John and Avery (Gwilt) Hayes. He grew up in Diamond Bluff and graduated from Prescott High School. He served in the United States Army from 1974 through 1977, where he was a military police officer. After his discharge, he worked various jobs in the area as a truck driver, welder and most recently, a school bus driver for First Student. He married Stacey Howe on March 2, 2018. He enjoyed fixing things around the house, taking care of his yard and spending quality time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Stacey; three step-children, Courtney (Kevin) Lorusso of Norfolk, Virginia, Jesse Carrell of Red Wing and Dusty Eichhorn of Red Wing; three step-grandchildren, Isabella, Miles and Aubrey; his siblings, Jon (Mary) Gwilt, Gail Hayes, Irene (Richard) Ahlers, Marcine Christiansen, Barbara (Chuck) Jones, Allen (Peggy) Hayes and Sherry Chandler and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. on Friday, November 9, 2018 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Reverend Justin Boeding officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
