Roger John Geisler, age 72 of Lake City died at the Lake City Nursing Home on Thursday, July 24, 2014.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 28th at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Lake City with Reverend Dahmon Romness officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery, Lake City. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to services. Pallbearers will be his 7 grandchildren: Bryan, Bradley, Drew, Michael, William, Benjamin and Cassandra. Full military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #110 and Lake City VFW Post #8729.
Roger John Geisler was born on March 2, 1942 in Lake City the son of Jesse and Majelle (Walters) Geisler. He was a 1960 graduate of Lincoln High School, Lake City. He entered the United States Army Reserves on March 3, 1964 in Red Wing, MN and served until January 8, 1970. Roger farmed in the Lake City area for 45 years and then was a frame cutter for Wild Wings, Lake City. Roger and Dorene Huffman were united in marriage on January 8, 1972 at the United Methodist Church in Lake City. Roger and Dorene raised four boys together. He was a great father and husband. He loved hunting and the outdoors. He was a very caring and loving person. Roger entered the Lake City Nursing Home in 2000 due to a stroke and continued to reside there until his death. He was a member of American Legion Post #110 and the Lake City VFW Post #8729.
Roger is survived by his wife of 42 years, Doreen, of Lake City; his sons, Kenneth Huffman of St. Cloud, MN, Bryan (Kathy ) Huffman of Lake City, Kevin ( Suzanne) Huffman of Red Wing, Jeffrey (Rachael ) Huffman of Lake City; brothers, John (Vicki) Geisler of Lake City, Larry (Margaret) Geisler of Brooklyn Park, MN; seven grandchildren, Cassandra Huffman of Red Wing, Bryan Huffman Jr. of Greenbay, WI, Bradley (fiancé, Cassandra Carrels) Huffman of Lake City, Michael (Stacy) Huffman of Red Wing, William (fiancé, Sara Gein) Huffman of Brooklyn Park, Drew Huffman of Red Wing, Benjamin Huffman of Red Wing; one great grandchild, Keira of Red Wing; mother-in-law: Deloris Ruzek of Lake City, two nephews: Chris ( Marisa) Geisler of Bloomington, MN, and Griffin (Christina) Geisler of St Paul, MN; two nieces, Diane Geisler of Princeton, New Jersey and Pam (Jim) Mattson of Coon Rapids, two great nephews, Patrick and Andrew of Bloomington, MN; He was preceded in death by father and his mother.
