Roger C. Young age 72 of Lake City died November 21, 2007 at the Lake City Hospital Mayo Health Center.
Roger was born September 14, 1935 in Austin, MN to Carl & Mildred (Slupe) Young. He graduated from Austin High School and joined the Army and served during the Korean War. After Roger was discharged he returned to Austin and married Esther Smith April 21, 1955 in Austin, MN. Roger worked for Wilson Meat Packing in Austin and he then worked for The United Packing House Workers Union. He was transferred to Phoenix, AZ, where he continued working for the union. They then moved back to the Twin Cities area where he was involved in the Golden Gloves/ ABF Boxing Association. He also worked for AGDVA Union until retiring. He then worked full time with the Golden Gloves and ABF Boxing Association in the Twin Cities. They moved to Lake City in 1995.
Roger is survived by his wife Esther, two daughters, PattiJo (Karl) Corey of Winona, MonaJodell Young of Winona; son Chad (Lynn) of Fort Worth, TX; four granddaughters; three great grandchildren; three sisters, Marylyn (Warren) Bateman of Magie Valley, N.C, Susan (Harold) Helleck of Rochester, Lynn Nomann of Rochester; brother Brian Young of Austin. Roger was preceded in death by his parents.
A Memorial Services will be held Saturday at 11:00 am at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel Lake City with Father James Russell officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service at the funeral home.
