Roger Boldt

August 3, 1945 — December 7, 2009

Roger Leland Boldt, 64 of Red Wing died on Monday, December 7, 2009 at his home surrounded by family after a 10 month battle with cancer. He was born on August 3, 1945 in Red Wing to Lester and Irene (Miller) Boldt. He graduated from Red Wing Central High School and then joined the Red Wing National Guard serving from 1963 to 1967. He graduated from Lee School of Barbering in 1966 and then began working at Miller Barbershop in Red Wing. On August 28, 1965 he was married to Gloria Siewert and they lived in St. Paul. In 1968 Roger started working at Bill's Distributing and later owned and operated the distributorship until 1985. He then drove bus for Lee Lines, and was a laborer at Prairie Island Nuclear Plant during outages and worked at Jostens until they closed. He was a happy volunteer for everything Gloria got him involved in. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and watching the Mississippi go by at the family's cabin. He was a fisherman and hunter, but his favorite past time was grooming the lawn at the cabin. He lived for mowing the grass! He enjoyed fishing on the Mississippi, Lake Wapogasset, and Lake Michigan. His hunting days were many with his sons and grandsons. He enjoyed many hunting trips with his boys, his father-in-law, Bill Siewert in Minnesota, Wyoming and Canada. From ducks to deer to moose, Roger was happy.
