Robert Neil “Rob” Pearson, 61, of Welch, passed away unexpectedly Monday, January 18, 2021, at his home due to a perforated ruptured appendix. He was born on February 18, 1959, in Red Wing to Byron and Dorene (Diercks) Pearson. He attended Burnside School and graduated from Red Wing High School in 1978. He worked at Welch Village and helped build the Cannon Valley Trail in his younger years. For the past 27 years he has worked in the maintenance department at Treasure Island and worked for Welch Canoeing and Tubing where he enjoyed driving the bus and meeting many different people. He was an avid outdoor guy. He loved hiking the hills and trails around Welch and Red Wing. He always kept busy and was available for anyone who needed help with anything. His family, many friends, neighbors and co-workers were all important to him; he will be missed.
Rob is survived by his parents, Byron and Dorene Pearson of Red Wing; brother, David (Nancy) Pearson of Red Wing; sister, Mary (Craig) Thomka of Bloomington; brother-in-law, Greg Vilmo; nephews, Bruce Pearson and Pierce Thomka; nieces, Heidi (Matt) Mitchell, Sara (Eric) Klassen, and Rachael Thomka. He was preceded in death by one sister, Linda Vilmo.
A walk-through visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. Masks and social distancing will be required.
