OBITUARY: Robert Venhuizen
Public visitation for Robert Venhuizen will be Wednesday, April 16, 2008 from 4-7 PM at Mahn Family Funeral Home � Mahler Chapel in Pine Island. Private graveside services will be held at the Othello Cemetery, rural Douglas, MN.
Robert Venhuizen, age 95, of Pine Island, died on Monday, April 14, 2008 at the Pine Haven Care Center. He was born on October 13, 1912 in New Underwood, SD to Klaus and Ida (Storbeck) Venhuizen. Bob grew up on the farm and at age 7 moved with his family to Holland. He attended school there and returned to the New Underwood area where he raised cattle, sheep and farmed. He moved to Rochester and on April 4, 1949 married Barbara Blake in Mantorville. Bob worked for St. Mary's Farm in Rochester and later moved to the Blake family farm, New Haven Township, Olmsted County where they farmed. He entered the nursing home in December of 2005. He enjoyed farming.
Bob is survived by his wife, Barbara Venhuizen, of Pine Island, MN; one daughter, Ruth (Lee) Arnett, of Rochester, MN; one son, William "Bill" (Violet) Venhuizen, of Byron, MN; four grandchildren: Erica Arnett, of Byron, MN, Brian Arnett, of Simpsonville, SC, B. J. Venhuizen, of Rochester, MN and Luke Venhuizen, of Austin, MN; two sisters: Henrietta Nelson, of AZ and Grace Coloff, of WY; one brother, Warmoult (Violet) Venhuizen, of CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and 1 sister.
