Robert V. Timbeross

May 23, 2023 — October 27, 2010

Robert Vernon Timbeross was born on May 23, 1923 in Zumbrota to Melvin and Ida (Fenne) Timbeross. He attended country school in the Zumbrota area. On September 2, 1944 Robert married Evelyn Ellefson at the Minneola Lutheran Church parsonage. He entered active duty into the United States Army in March of 1945. He trained at Camp Hood in Texas. After being discharged, Robert began working for Leon Joyce Construction Company in Kenyon. He was part of an Army contract and travelled to Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos to build roads, specifically Highway #1. After completing that contract he was sent to Greenland to work on airport runways. After about nine months in Greenland, Robert returned home to his family. In the winters he worked for Koelsch Service Center as a mechanic, which he continued for 24 years. In 1970 Robert went to work for Cenex, which was based out of South St. Paul, as a field engineer. Even though he officially retired, Robert continued to work for the Feed Mill until he was 82 years old. Evelyn preceded Robert in death on May 16, 1986.
Robert's joy in life was spending time with family and friends. He especially enjoyed winters with his brother Don in Texas, where they would travel to "the Valley" and would spend hours driving and exploring the area. His driving was also a past time he had when he was at home. Often Robert helped drive for parts for his son Tom and he loved to spend his free time driving around town on "missions". When the family would go on hunting trips and reunions, he was designated as the cook. He loved cooking large meals for the whole family, including traditional Norwegian dishes. Robert was a lifelong member of the Pine Island American Legion Charles Cowden Post #184. He was also a member of Lands Lutheran Church, where he served on the cemetery board.
Robert is survived by his seven children, Ileen (Gary) Swelland of Peoria, AZ, Judy (Mike) Hyatt of Elk Grove, CA, Garry Timbeross of Zumbrota, Lisa (Roger Archer) Johnson of Zumbrota, Tom (Carole) Timbeross of Wanamingo, Tracy Jahnke of Glenville, and Peter Timbeross of Rochester; ten grandchildren, Christine Federico, Eric Swelland, Carey (John) Garcia, Brian Hyatt, Mackenzie and Korbin Johnson, Amanda and Allison Timbeross, Cameron Kolbe, and Robyn Jahnke; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Donald (Virginia) Timbeross of Plano, TX and James (LaVonne) Timbeross of Perham, MN; his sister, Carol (Jerry) Erickson of Zumbrota; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his son-in-law, Berry Jahnke; and his daughter-in-law, Pamela Timbeross.
