Robert J. Molberg

Reverend Robert James Molberg, 85, of Red Wing, died Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. He was born October 25, 1929, in Duluth, Minnesota to James and Eva (Cole) Molberg. He graduated from Central High School in Duluth and from the Apostolic Bible Institute in St. Paul. On December 2, 1950 he was united in marriage to Marilyn Joan Maxe and they made their home in Red Wing, where he pastored at the Apostolic Gospel Church for many years. Robert enjoyed boating, fishing and spending time at the cabin, as well as attending his great-grandchildren's programs. He was also known for his plaster and drywall work in homes and buildings. A great sports fan, he enjoyed all high school and college sports and especially enjoyed the MN Twins and Vikings. He will be remembered for his wit-he always had a good joke to tell and he enjoyed working with people.
He is survived by his two children, James T. (Kathleen) Molberg of Pine City and Patti S. Bushnell of Prior Lake; grandchildren, Stephanie Molberg of Eagan, Emily (Dustin) Brantford of St. Louis Park, Robert A. Molberg of Minnetonka, Jared Molberg of Minnetonka, Lydia Molberg of Pine City, Camilla (Sean) Lathrop of Red Wing and Nathaniel Bushnell of Prior Lake; great-grandchildren, Charli Brantford, Christian and Brennan Bolger, Derrek, Hunter, Jeremy and Mason Lathrop; sisters, Helen Moen of Moose Lake, Evelyn Maki of Cicero, NY, Dorothy Pollick of Lakeworth, FL, Marian Mahai of Duluth and Betty Larson of Red Wing and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; two brothers, George and William Molberg and a sister, Audrey Hanna.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 18, 2015 at New River Assembly of God in Red Wing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. A private family burial will take place at Lund Covenant Cemetery at a later date.Memorials preferred to the Salvation Army or Tupelo Children's Mansion.
