Robert Koenig, 75, of Zumbrota, passed away Saturday November 2, 2019 at the Sunset Nursing Home in Kenyon.
Robert Harold Koenig was born August 15, 1944 in Zumbrota, MN to Harold and Verniel (Lother) Koenig. He grew up and attended school in Zumbrota. After graduating from high school, Bob went on to barber school and became a barber. During the Vietnam War era, Bob was stationed in Germany as a radio operator. Back at home, Robert found employment at NSP and became a licensed engineer at the NSP plant in the Twin Cities. He married Mildred Berg in 1976. Robert enjoyed being outside in his garden. He loved sports, especially the Twins and Vikings. Bob cherished the time he spent with his family and always looked forward to seeing his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred; daughters Christine Kramer and Carol Anderson; granddaughter Jenna Kramer; his mother, Verniel Swiggum; Aunts and Uncles, Ken (Alice) Lother, Dave (Helen) Lother and Val Nesseth; step-siblings Harvey Swiggum, Marvin Swiggum and Sue Swiggum; sister-in-law Irene Sillman; numerous cousins.
Robert was preceded in death by his grandparents, Christ and Marie Lother; step-father Henry Swiggum; granddaughter Melissa Kramer; uncle Dale Lother and aunts Eunice Quast, Audrey Nichols and Carol Vnuk.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday November 9, 2019 at Mahn Family Funeral Home-Larson Chapel, in Zumbrota with Pastor Linda Helberg officiating. Interment will be in the Zumbrota Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Stroke Association or donor's choice. Online condolences are welcome and may be shared at mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
