Robert Josselyn

Robert "Bob" Josselyn, age 73, of Mazeppa, died on Saturday morning, October 19th, 2024, at his home in Mazeppa.

The celebration of his life will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 24th at St. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church in Mazeppa, with visitation beginning two hours prior to the ceremony.

Following the celebration of life, the Mazeppa Fire Department will lead a procession to the

Maple Street Bridge downtown for a "final call and send off."

Robert Lynn Josselyn was born August 10, 1951. He was the oldest of four children born to Richard and Geraldine "Dobby" Josselyn in Rochester, MN. He grew up on the farm and attended Mazeppa schools, graduating in 1969.

Robert married Marie (Heppelmann) Josselyn in June 1975. He worked on the farm with his dad prior to purchasing their home in Mazeppa. Robert started working as a mechanic at Kelly's Sales and Service, which inspired him to start a business of his own. In 1979 Robert became a business owner of "Bob's Small Engine Repair" in Pine Island, MN. He was known to be the best mechanic in the area and could diagnose an engine issue by simply listening to it. In 2012, Robert sold his business to M&M Lawn and Leisure, where he continued to work until he retired in 2020.

Robert was a constant in the community of Mazeppa. He served on the Mazeppa Fire Department for 40 years. He was the assistant chief for many years and the chief for one year. His pride for the youth of the department shone as bright as the sun.

In his spare time in his younger years, he would take any opportunity he could to snowmobile. His love for snowmobiling was passed down to his son and grandchildren. Every year he organized a trip out west with his son, friends and customers to snowmobile in the mountains of Wyoming. He also enjoyed fishing in his boat of 52 years and vacationing with his wife and five children. In retirement, he loved reading a good book in his recliner or on his deck, taking in the chaos of his seven grandchildren, golf cart rides, cooking and mowing lawn.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 49 ½ years, Marie Josselyn; children, Ashley (Scott)

Butler, David (Kristina) Josselyn, Jenny (Tim) Pearson, Melanie (Jack) Tierney and Stephanie

(Zach) VanOstrand; grandchildren, Scarlett, Penelope, Josie, Remy, Evelyn, Eleanor and William; siblings, Jean (Pat) Hanson, Jeff (Elaine) Josselyn and Kathy (Al) Flotterud, and many nieces and nephews. He now resides in heaven with his parents Richard and Dobby Josselyn.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given in memory of Robert's time serving on the Mazeppa Fire Department, to be used toward a scholarship for local students.
