Robert K. Johnson, 90, of Red Wing, died Tuesday at St. Brigid?s at Hi-Park. He was born on June 5, 1916 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Emil and Bertha (Lindell) Johnson. He moved to a farm in Hager City as a youth and attended Wilson Elementary School and graduated from Red Wing Central High School. He served in the Army Air Force from January 12, 1942 to December 16, 1945 during World War II. After his discharge he returned to Red Wing and on September 11, 1948 he married Geraldine Stumpf. He joined the US Postal Service and retired as a rural mail carrier in 1980. They moved to Tucson, Arizona where Bob lived until returning to Red Wing in 2001. Geraldine died on August 2, 1994. He was a member of Our Redeemer?s Lutheran Church and he will be remembered as a very easy going individual with a caring and loving heart. Survivors include one son, Roger (Zaiga) Johnson of Golden, Colorado; two grandchildren, Angie (Corey) Rhodes of Fort Collins, Colorado and David Johnson of Tucson, Arizona; two sisters, Corrine Johnson and Ardyce Lohmeyer both of Red Wing; one sister-in-law Eunice Thorson of Moorhead and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, one sister, Renee Pearson and one brother K. Burton Johnson. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 27, at Our Redeemer?s Lutheran Church with Rev. Rick Grams officiating. Burial will be in the Burnside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, June 26 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and at the church for one hour prior to the service. Memorials are preferred to the church.
