Robert Janisch

Robert Adolph Janisch, 79, Red Wing, died Wednesday at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park. He was born October 19,1928 in El Paso Township, Wisconsin, the son of Adolf and Louise (Bitzner) Janisch. He attended Lost Creek Schools. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict, 1951-1953. He married Mary Kathryn Finch on October 11, 1951. He worked at Red Wing Shoe for 40 years, retiring in June of 1992. After retirement he worked at Napa Auto Parts as a delivery person. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church where he served as an usher for many years, the Leo C. Peterson American Legion Post 54, the Red Wing Square Dance Club and he served as an auxiliary Policeman for 20 years. He enjoyed going to his trailer in northern Wisconsin, also fishing, hunting, traveling, woodworking and gardening.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Kathryn of Red Wing; one son, Mark Janisch of Red Wing; three sisters: Norrieda (Francis) Lieffring and Elfrieda Jennings, both of Ellsworth and Jean Raechke of River Falls; two brothers, Alfred (Viola) Janisch of Ellsworth and John Janisch of Beldenville; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Wilfred Janisch.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Reverend Kristen Schlauderaff officiating. Burial with military honors will be in St. John's Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with a Legion Prayer Service at 5 p.m. and on Monday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the Fairview Red Wing Area Hospice or to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
