Robert Henry Gordish

Robert Henry Gordish was born in Oelwein, Iowa on June 7, 1939, to John and Mary (Miller) Gordish. He was reborn as a child of God in the waters of Holy Baptism at the age of 16. On June 25, 1961, he was confirmed in the Christian faith and was fed the life-giving body and blood of Jesus. Robert was united in holy marriage to Genene Smith on August 26, 1961 at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in St. Charles, Minn., and blessed with 55 years of married life together. God also blessed them with the gift of two children, Robin (Jerry) Clifton of New Hope, Minn., and Reverend Timothy (Aretta) Gordish of Bethel, Connecticut. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and his siblings, Sylvia (Roger) Brimmer, Delbert (Joyce) King, Mary (Richard) Knudsen, Morris (Diane) King, Leslie (Evelyn) King, Crystal Gross and Valerie (Jim) Teisinger all of Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Linda. God blessed Robert's life with many special people as he served God in his vocations at home, church and work. Robert was employed by IBM in Rochester for eight years and then at Meyer Industries in Hager City for 28 years. He was an active member of Concordia Lutheran Church. Finally, on Thursday, January 12, 2017, God blessed Robert with a holy death and took him home to rest in the arms of Jesus to await the resurrection of the dead.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, January 16, 2017, at Concordia Lutheran Church with Reverend Tyge Zucker officiating. Visitation will be from 5 p.m.to 7 p.m. Sunday, January 15, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and at the church for one hour prior to the service. Memorials are preferred to Concordia Lutheran Church or to a favorite charity. Online condolences may be sent to www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
