The memorial service for Robert 'Bob' Anderson will be 2:00 PM Saturday August 21st at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Rochester Chapel. The Reverend Nancy Wheeler Handlon of Christ United Methodist Church will officiate. A private burial is scheduled. Mr. Anderson, 79, a lifelong Rochester resident, died Monday August 16, 2010 at Angels Care Center in Cannon Falls, Minnesota.
Robert Eugene Anderson was born March 18, 1931 to Esther and Lester Anderson in Rochester, and graduated from Rochester High School. He attended Community College in Mankato. He served three years in the U.S. Air Force in Germany. He worked for IBM in Rochester for twenty-nine years and after retirement he worked part-time at the Holiday Inn Downtown. He enjoyed golfing and his dog, Opie. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, and VFW Post 1215.
Survivors include his wife, Mary, of Rochester; his daughter, Melanie (Mark) Thomas of Las Vegas, Nevada; his stepdaughter, Melissa (Ryan) Orcutt of Wathena, Kansas; a sister, Jean Collison (Howard) of Golden Valley, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews. His parents, a sister, and an infant brother preceded him in death.
Memorials are suggested to Christ United Methodist Church.
