Robert Doyle, 72, of Red Wing, died suddenly on Wednesday, January 27, 2021. Robert Joseph Anthony Doyle, the 2nd son of Ernie and Marcy Doyle, came into this world at St. John’s Hospital, June 14, 1948, in Red Wing. “Bob” or “Bobby” as he was well-known, was a naturally gifted athlete, who enjoyed a multitude of sports—as a spectator, but especially as a participant. He grew up playing hockey, tennis, softball and then baseball, football, etc. He has remained close friends especially with his Miesville Mudhen’s buddies for fifty years. R.J., a friend to many, became a “trivia master” and remained dedicated to golf—women’s touring and tournaments.
He is survived by his mother, Marcy of Red Wing; his brothers, Jeff (Denise) and John (Suzanne), his sisters, Jo (Bob Prahl) and Kath; nieces and nephews, Elly Prahl, Sarah, Jack and Grace Doyle and his extended family. He was preceded in death by his father.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at a later date. Arrangements handled by Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
