Robert Paul Chaney, age 88 of Red Wing, originally of Lake City, died Saturday, March 29, 2014, at St. Brigid's at Hi- Park. He was born on August 8, 1925 in rural Cedar Falls, Iowa to Harvey and Bessie (Morgan) Chaney. He grew up in Cedar Falls and graduated from high school there in 1943. Robert served in the U.S. Army during WWII. After being honorably discharged, he married Myrtle Marie Chaney on June 8, 1947 in Iowa. Robert went on to receive an associate's degree from the Milwaukee School of Engineering and work for IBM for over 30 years. After his retirement, he moved to Texas for some 20 years before returning to Lake City. He was a longtime member of the Lake City VFW.
Robert is survived by his children, Ken (Cheri) of Oak Center, Dave of Coon Rapids, Bruce of La Grange, TX, and Sue of Coon Rapids; grandchildren, Beau (Nisha) of St. Paul, Lisa of Two Harbors, Heidi of Rochester, Michelle of Blaine, Marcia of Blaine, and Eric of Coon Rapids; and great-grandchildren, Dia and Dhru. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and siblings.
