A private family memorial service for Robert M. Chamberlin will be held in Michagan. Mr. Chamberlin, 69, of Rochester, died Thursday, March 7, 2013 at Seasons Hospice in Rochester following a lengthy illness.
Robert Milton Chamberlin, Jr. was born November 17, 1943 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Robert Sr. and Helen (Laird) Chamberlin. Raised in Royal Oak, Michigan he was a graduate of Southfield High School there. He enlisted in the US Air Force, serving from 1961 to 1965, and was stationed in such places as Turkey and Tokyo, Japan. He was honorably discharged and awarded the Good Conduct Medal and the Longevity Medal. Returning to Michigan, he worked briefly at Sears-Roebuck in Highland Park. He attended the Lawrence Institute of Technology in Southfield, and then became employed with IBM in 1966. He worked at IBM's Detroit facility for fourteen years, and was then transferred to IBM's Rochester site in 1981, continuing his career until his retirement in 1993. He married Judy Lanz Miller on April 4, 1985 in Rochester. Robert is a member of Eckankar, which he joined in 1972. He volunteered for Mayo Hospice for three years, and was a former member of Kiwanis.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Lanz Miller of Rochester; daughters, Pamela (Ron Robertson) Ostboe of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Suzie Christenson of Rochester; a son, Michael (Nancy) Miller of Spanaway, Washington; four granddaughters, Melissa (Jeff) Wilsco and Megan Miller, both of Spanaway, Washington, and Ahna Christenson and Kate Christenson, both of Rochester; two great-grandchildren, Briahna and Justin Wilsco; his brother, Stuart Chamberlin of Boca Raton, Florida; and his former son-in-law, Roni Christenson of Albert Lea, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers.
