Bob Bentson, 76, of Rochester, passed away Sunday May 31, 2020 at Mayo Clinic Hospital, St. Mary's campus in Rochester as the result of a sudden and recent illness.
Robert Rhody Bentson was born January 19, 1944 in Santa Monica, California, the son of Arnold and Ruth Bentson. He married Jean Rae Fenske on June 26, 1965 at Peace United Church of Christ in Rochester. He worked at Viking Automotive for over 30 years. Bob loved family and friends, and his many dogs. He enjoyed elk hunting, was a NASCAR fan, enjoyed the TV show "Ancient Aliens," current events, and reading.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Bentson of Rochester; two sons, Dr. Jeffrey (Colleen) Bentson, residing in Guam, and Matthew (Cindy) Bentson of Fountain, Minnesota; a daughter, Michelle "Missy" (Joe) Slawson of Rochester; eight grandchildren, Jordyn Bentson, Joshua Slawson, Robert M. Bentson, Charles Bentson, Henry Bentson, Oscar Bentson, Annika Bentson, and Aria Bentson. Also surviving are three brothers, Jerry (Sally) Bentson of Minnieska, Minnesota, Leon Bentson of Monument, Colorado, and Clayton (Gale) Bentson of Altura, Minnesota; as well as his close friends, Gary Arndt and Bernie Siemens. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Ruth Bentson.
