Robert Nelson Albers, 81, of Lake City, passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at his residence. He was born February 22, 1937 in Red Wing to Christ and Lillian (Nelson) Albers. He grew up on the family farm near Mazeppa. He graduated from Goodhue High School in 1955. Bob served with the Army National Guard of Minnesota. He learned the welding trade and began working at various area industries. He married Sue Carol Stussy on September 27, 1958 in Pine Island. They helped on his family farm for several years until they bought their own farm. Bob worked at Zumco during the day and farmed when he got home. He retired in 2007 and they moved to Lake City. He was a member at Grace Lutheran Church in Goodhue for many years and was a current member of Bethany Lutheran Church. He was a talented woodworker. He enjoyed spending time with his family and going to the family cabin in northern WI. Bob and Sue spent a lot of time going antiquing, attending garage sales and auctions.
He is survived by his wife, Sue of Lake City; children, Cindy (Doug) Matthees of Zumbrota, Rick (Ronda) Albers of Stewartville, Kim (Kelly) Kuhl of Red Wing; grandchildren, Michelle and Adam (Brittney) Matthees, Josh (Bri) and Jared (Jenna) Albers, Kendra and Mitchell Kuhl; great grandchildren, Jordan Matthees, Hayden and Harper Albers. He is preceded in death by his parents, Christ and Lillian; siblings, Eleanor Neeley, Lorraine Peterson, Florence Bremer, and Howard Albers.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Lake City with Pastor Steve Frentz officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bob's grandchildren. Burial will take place at Bethany Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
