Rita Veronica Tracy, 87, of Red Wing, died Sunday, July 2, 2017, at The Villa at Hi Park. She was born April 18, 1930, in West Concord, Minn. to Daniel and Veronica (Tierney) Lambert. In 1947, she graduated from West Concord High School and taught in one-room schools in Dodge County. On October 20, 1950, she married Bryce Tracy in Claremont, Minn. at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Through the years, Rochester, Mankato, La Crescent, Dodge Center, Minn., and Columbus, Neb. were all places they called home. Rita worked as a dietary manager at the Fieldcrest Nursing Home for 16 years and was also active with the Dietary Managers Association. In 1996, they moved to Red Wing, Minn. where she worked at Braschler's Bakery. Bryce died May 20, 2000. Rita was a member of the Church of St. Joseph, Council of Catholic Women and volunteered at St. Joseph's School and Church, the Sheldon Theatre and Faith in Action. She enjoyed traveling, reading, music, and everything Irish. But what really made her eyes sparkle was spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children, Sheila (John) Walsh of Red Wing, Layne (Wane) Davis of Willits, CA, Brian Tracy of Monroe, MI, Jill (Todd) Stutz of Leander, TX, and Lee (Liz) Tracy of Pipestone, Minn.; 12 grandchildren, Carolyn (Tony) Engberg, Bridget (Eric) Michalek, Patrick Walsh, Kelly (Ben) Walsh, Maura (Tony) Clemons, Danya Davis, Keane Davis, Tia Stutz, Kyle Stutz, Brianne Brede, Ryan (Tammy) Tracy, and Ashley Tracy; 10 great grandchildren, Eva and Bryce Engberg; Ries and Cooper Michalek; Avery Walsh; Mackenzie and Alexis Brede; Nevaeh, Jameson, and Tyson Tracy; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bryce; two sisters, Margaret Wick and Mary Monahan; one brother, William Lambert; and an infant son.
Mass of Resurrection will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 28, 2017, at the Church of St. Joseph with Father Thomas Kommers presiding. Burial will be at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 pm. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 27, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and at the church for one hour prior to the service.
