Rita Rae Rietmann

Rita Rae Rietmann, 79, of Red Wing, died Saturday, January 23, 2016 at the Mayo Health System Campus in Red Wing. She was born on November 27, 1936 in Red Wing to William and Ethel (Brown) Peters. She graduated from Red Wing High School. She met Robert Rietmann at the roller rink and the couple married on April 23, 1956 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. They made their home in Red Wing where they raised their two children, Van and Terri. Both Rita and Bob worked for the Red Wing Shoe Company for more than 37 years. Following retirement they wintered in Apache Junction, Arizona for 15 years. When she was younger she enjoyed riding horses. She enjoyed shopping and being outside, especially spending time at her pool and watching the hummingbirds. She was an avid Vikings fan and never missed The Young and the Restless.
Survivors include her husband, Robert; one son, Van of Red Wing; one daughter, Terri (Steve) Ross of River Falls; two grandchildren, Jennifer Rietmann and Timothy (Lisa) Beck and two great grandchildren, Devan and Sydney Anderson and one great great granddaughter, Adalyn. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, January 28, 2106 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. Visitation will be from 12 noon until the time of the service at the funeral home on Thursday. Burial will be in the St. John's Cemetery.
