Richard Milton Truttmann, 95, of Hager City, died Sunday, August 18, 2013 at the Ellsworth Care Center. He was born May 15, 1918 in Diamond Bluff Township, in Pierce County, to George and Anne (Benson) Truttmann. He attended Mero rural schools near Diamond Bluff. On February 21, 1941 he married Marcile Lundberg. He worked all his life on the family farm in the Diamond Bluff Township area. He also drove a school bus for more than 30 years for the Ellsworth School District. He was a member of Svea Lutheran Church where he served on the church board. He was also the Diamond Bluff Township Clerk, a member of the Pierce County Board and the ASC Committee. In the 30's he helped to clear the land for Lock and Dam #3. He used his earnings to buy a 1936 Chevy. He will be remembered by his family for his love of farming.
He is survived by his wife, Marcile; four children, Wallace (Nancy) Truttmann of Hager City, Nancy (Leon) Gergen of Hastings, Timothy (Chris) Truttmann of Hager City and Scott (Cindy) Truttmann of Hager City; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jack Truttman; two sisters, June Engles and Alene Foley.
Funeral service will be 11 am, Friday, August 23, 2013 at Svea Lutheran Church with Reverend William Wilson officiating. Burial will be at Diamond Bluff Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, August 22, 2013 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn chapel and one hour prior to the service at church.
