Richard C. "Dick" Schwarz, age 89, a longtime Rochester Plumber, died Saturday (Mar. 30, 2013) at Golden Living Center East, where he had resided for the past year.
Richard Calvin Schwarz was born Jan. 11, 1924 in Rochester to Carl and Bessie (Rose) Schwarz. He graduated from Rochester High School in 1942. Dick served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946, at his discharge he held the rank of Sergeant. He was a Union Plumber in Rochester for fifty five years, retiring in 1987. On Aug. 3, 1962 he married Bernilda "Bernie" Greeter in Las Vegas, Nevada, she survives. Dick was a member of the Plumbers and Fitters Union Local #6, and a former member of the Elks Club and Eagles Lodge. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife he is survived by three step-daughters, Judy Bader of Rochester; Jill (Richard) Lueck of Medina, MN; and Cathy (Dan) Swenningson of Rochester; one son, Todd Schwarz of Rochester; one step-son, Edward (Sharon) Wilson, of Rochester; nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and his sister Beverly Baker of Rochester. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.
A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday (Apr. 6, 2013) at Mahn Family Funeral Home - Rochester Chapel with the Rev. Maurice Hagen officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service, and a reception will be held following the service. Private inurnment will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens.
Memorials are suggested to the Mayo Foundation for Alzheimers Research.
