Richard J. Reuter age 89 of Mazeppa died suddenly on Monday, September 23, 2013 at his home in rural Mazeppa. The funeral mass will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Mazeppa with Fr. Joseph Fogal officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Richard Joseph Reuter was born on November 5, 1923 in Chester Township, Wabasha County, MN to Joe and Mame (nee Befort) Reuter. He grew up on the family farm and attended country school. He started farming with his parents. He continued to farm with his brother, Alfred. They showed antique tractors in parades and participated in threshing shows. Richard enjoyed reading, traveling, big band music, and going to swap shows. Richard was a member of the Mazeppa Historical Society. Richard is survived by his niece, Patricia (Mike) Liffrig of Mazeppa; great-nephew, Travis Liffrig of Mazeppa, who Richard lived with and great-niece Erin Liffrig of Argentina. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Joe & Mame and his brother, Alfred. Memorials are preferred to Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church Building Fund or Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery.
