Richard Carvel Prigge, 68, of Prescott, died Sunday, September 28, 2008 at Methodist Hospital in Rochester. He was born December 1, 1939 in Lake City, to Arthur and Lydia (Carsten) Prigge and was a 1957 graduate of Lincoln High School in Lake City. He began his career working for Western Electric, which later became AT&T, and then Lucent Technologies, where he retired from in 2000, after 42 years. He married Marjorie VanEngelenhoven on June 7, 1958 in Lake City. They lived in Winona, Minn. for a short time and then moved to Northfield, Minn and later to Chicago. From 1961-68 they lived in Lake City and they then moved to Rosemount, Minn., where they lived for 22 years. In 1990 they moved to Prescott. Marjorie died February 21, 2006. He was a member of Joy Lutheran Church in Prescott and had been a past member of St. John's Lutheran, Lake City. He was also a member of Badger State Blacksmith Organization and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, blacksmithing and gardening.

He is survived by 4 children, Ricki (Jan) Prigge of Rosemount, Sue (Charlie) Lampert of Inver Grove Heights, Stuart (Valerie) Prigge of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Gregory (Kimmy Pelton) Prigge of Burnsville; his fiancé, Deborah Sessing of Prescott; 12 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Carol (Lloyd) Betcher of Lake City and Valarie Johnson of Red Wing and 1 brother, Arthur (Lori) Prigge of Puyallup, Washington.

He was preceded in death by his wife and an infant daughter, Barbara Ann.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Joy Lutheran Church, Prescott, with Reverend Norman Belland officiating. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery, Lake City. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel in Red Wing and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
