Richard Frederick Kunde, 52, of Red Wing, died unexpectedly on Sunday, December 29, 2013. He was born September 29, 1961, in Bitburg, Germany, to Richard, Sr. and Cathey (Jones) Kunde. His family moved to Victorville, California and then to Red Wing in 1964, where he graduated from Red Wing Central High School. For 23 years he worked at Merillat in Lakeville until their closing. On February 15, 1997 he married Michelle Adler. He attended school in Madison, Wisconsin to become a heavy equipment operator and later began working at Hobo in Lakeville, where they manufactured car wash solution. He and Michelle divorced in 2008. Richard had worked in the maintenance department at Treasure Island Casino until his passing. He was a member of District 23 AMA Club and Motokazie. He enjoyed playing softball and had played on different leagues for many years, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his sons.
He is survived by his sons, Matt Kunde and Johnathan Adler, both of Red Wing; parents, Richard Kunde, Sr. of Red Wing and Cathy Kunde of North Dakota and a brother, Melvin (Maureen) Kunde of Farmington.
Funeral service will be 7 p.m. Thursday, January 2, 2014, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, with a visitation beginning at 5 p.m. until the time of the service.
